How do i go about getting wireless internet connection w/o buying anything?

i have a laptop pc and when i go visit family i cant connect to the internet how can i do the wireless internet connection w/o buying equipments that i cant afford?please be specific on how i do this,i am new with the computer world and new gizmo's.Thank you
