Is it islamically okay to wear a wedding ring?

you can choose to or choose not to wear a wedding band.. but.. men are not to wear gold.. hadeeth gave some prohibitions on men, not to wear saffron colored clothes or gold.. (dont know why).. so men usually traditionally if they want,, can wear a silver, platinum, or br ring, but not gold..
