Ask him. It's the only way to know for sure. Yeah you'll seem like a b!t ch for looking through his messages, but it doesn't really matter at this point because you saw what you saw. If it's bothering you that much the only thing you can do is ask him. Maybe say you thought it was your phone buzzing and you opened it without even thinking?
