Why can't anyone think for themselves anymore?

I think we're headed to another 1950s-like-conformist decade, but behold the decade after will probably be about non-conformity probably, or hopefully. If you look around, people get upset when they see anything "different", and the insecure argue against the ones acknowledging the in-your-face-issue, because they're too bitter to admit that they themselves dress like everyone else in attempt to be accepted and "fit in".
